D.C.W students participated in the three Co. Wicklow schools invitational Cross Country Events. The 1st took place on October 8th in Arklow Community College. The Senior Athletes performed best with Silver medals going to Zoe Lematy, Ali Geraghty and Lynda Earls. Jane Fagan, Kate Fagan and Aimee Mooney took 4th place.
For the 2nd event the girls travelled to St. Gerard’s in Bray. Kate Sreenan 1st year had a great race finishing in 11th position and Laura McEnery 2nd year finished in the Top 15. Jane Fagan 3rd year took home an individual silver medal while the senior team. Ali, Lynda, Kate, Zoe and Aimee took gold.
In the 3rd event held in Avondale, Katie Sreenan improved her position finishing in 7th place helping the 1st year team (Katie, Ciara Fahy, Jill Humby and Nicole Kavanagh) came home in 4th position. Jane Fagan took an individual bronze and the Senior Team repeated their gold winning performance.
The East Leinster Cross Country also took place in Avondale in February. Once again the Senior girls, Jane Fagan, Ali Geraghty, Lynda Earls, Aimee Mooney and Zoe Lematy had a fantastic race taking the silver medals and went on to represent East Leinster in the Leinster finals - a great achievement. Ali Geraghty narrowly missed out on qualifying for the National Finals.
